The Glass Academy is an independently owned glass art destination in Metro Detroit and the home of The Gathering Point, a live glass blowing show streamed worldwide on YouTube and Facebook. In the Dearborn Studio, we design and produce high-quality, American-made glass art for purchase, along with creating unforgettable experiences in the hot shop and hands on opportunities. Cocktails + coffees are enjoyed while shopping the gallery and viewing the seasonal shows and events in this large private studio.

As innovators in live-streamed glass education, we educate and inspire a global audience about molten glass while building a vibrant creative community online, in addition to offering an online immersive glass blowing courses for beginners, hobbyists, and aspiring artists.

Glass Academy’s founders, Chris Nordin and Michelle Plucinsky share an extensive background in the glass arts, and both have impressive resumes in craft and business. In perfecting their glass skills, the creative duo has attended workshops from Maine (Haystack) to Seattle (Pilchuck), in addition to teaching at the professional level (Corning), traveling to work abroad in Italy, and running various offsite operations involving glassblowing. Their son Jacob Nordin joined the business in 2020 and runs the day to day operations of the expanding studio.
