Our Mission is to make nature and the outdoors accessible to everyone. We strive to inspire and empower children and adults, no matter their ability, to cultivate an intimate connection to the natural world through education, observation, and play, and to teach visitors the importance of nature-based play and recreation to their overall health and wellness.

We hope to serve as a model of environmental stewardship, and to teach and motivate visitors to become more informed stewards of the land. It is our goal that visitors to Distant Hill will leave with a better understanding of the vital connections between plants, animals, and humans, and how we can use Earth's resources in a way that strengthens and sustains that connection, and makes the world a healthier and richer place.
