Rebo Hassell participated in one of Betty Dodson's famous BodySex workshops in November 2016. It inspired her to encourage other women to talk about sex, with the goal of increasing body pride and reducing stigma and self-consciousness around sex.

When Rebo attended one of Jennifer Bemen's original Women Uncorked sessions, she knew this round-table discussion was a perfect way to foster these conversations. In May 2017, she started her own Women Uncorked group in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, DC. A few years later, she launched People Uncorked, the all-gender version. She also added new events, including happy hours in downtown DC, brunch and private shopping at Lotus Blooms in Old Town Alexandria, trips to SpaWorld in Centreville, VA, and semi-annual appreciation parties for regular attendees. Over the years, hundreds of people have participated and enjoyed sharing and learning about sex at these events.

Professionally, Rebo has a relationship mediation and conflict coaching practice called Tower and Star Mediation. She has a bachelor’s degree in humanities from New College of Florida and an MBA from the University of Florida. She is a certified mediator in Maryland and the District of Columbia, and has studied nonviolent communication (NVC) extensively. She is also a core organizer for Center for a New Culture in Abrams, Creek, WV.
