The International Institute
What is the International Institute?
The International Institute is an American non-profit institution founded in 1892 that has since developed its activity in Spain. After more than 120 years favoring the educational and cultural exchange between Spain and the United States, the International Institute is currently the meeting point in Madrid for the culture of both countries. True to its founding origin, the Institute remains committed to disseminating the contribution of women in all areas of public life.
How do you carry out your mission?
The Institute contributes to this dialogue between the United States and Spain by promoting knowledge among Spanish citizens of American society and culture through its North American Language and Culture Program, the organization of meetings and colloquiums between specialists from both countries and the development of their library. As a result of the International Institute’s agreements with different North American universities, annually more than a thousand American university students follow courses of different disciplines at the headquarters of the Institute.
