American Society of Evidence-Based Policing
The American Society of Evidence-Based Policing (ASEBP) is a non-profit organization founded by working law enforcement practitioners. Our purpose is to drive the national conversation toward ensuring that the least harmful, most effective, fairest, and safest evidence-based strategies are employed to prevent crime, reduce harm, and improve community wellness.
ASEBP defines an evidence-based policing approach as emphasizing the following:
1. Use of research and data: Implementing strategies and practices shown to be effective through rigorous research.
2. Evaluation and adaptation: Continuously assessing the effectiveness of policing methods and making adjustments based on empirical evidence.
3. Scientific methodology: Applying the principles of scientific inquiry to test the effectiveness of different policing strategies.
Through education, advocacy, and research, ASEBP seeks to transform policing practices at all levels, from the frontline to policymakers.
