Titus WambuaChief Audit Executive | Internal Audit & Governance Leader | Audit Thought Leader
Titus Wambua is a seasoned Internal Audit and Governance professional with more than two decades of experience navigating the evolving world of Internal Audit, Risk, Governance and Assurance across complex organizational environments.
His career represents a journey from the frontlines of Internal Audit to the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) seat—giving him a rare perspective on the profession from both sides of the table: the technical realities of delivering assurance and the executive responsibility of positioning Internal Audit as a trusted source of insight, challenge and organizational value.
As a CAE, Titus has worked at the intersection of boards, executive leadership, risk, governance and business strategy, experiencing first-hand the changing expectations being placed on today's Internal Audit function.
His work increasingly focuses on a fundamental question facing the profession:
How does Internal Audit evolve from simply assuring what has happened to helping organisations understand what is happening, what could happen next, and what it means?
Titus is passionate about advancing a more strategic, forward-looking and human-centred Internal Audit profession—one that preserves the independence and objectivity of assurance while developing the influence, business understanding and foresight required to remain relevant in an increasingly complex world.
He is the founder of AfriAudit, an executive community designed to bring Chief Audit Executives and senior Internal Audit leaders together to challenge conventional thinking, exchange perspectives and shape the future of the profession.
Through his thought leadership, executive conversations and professional engagements, Titus explores the evolving role of the CAE, the future of assurance, AI and emerging risks, boardroom influence, strategic advisory, governance intelligence and the capabilities required of the CAE of tomorrow.
His philosophy is simple:
The future of Internal Audit should not simply be audited. It should be actively shaped by the people leading it.
It is this conviction that drives his work to create spaces where audit leaders can Connect. Challenge. Think Forward.
