Megan is a Los Angeles–based textile and fiber artist with a deep love of color, material, experimentation, and making things by hand. Her work is rooted in the idea that textiles don’t need to be perfectly controlled. The most interesting results often come from playing with a process, following your instincts, and allowing the material to surprise you.

The Dye Bar is an extension of that creative practice: a series of intimate textile-dyeing workshops held in Megan’s warm, leafy Northeast LA backyard. Each gathering explores a different technique: from Shibori and ice dyeing to resist methods, natural dyes, batik, and other ways of transforming cloth through color.

The workshops are hands-on and thoughtfully guided, but decidedly not stuffy or overly serious. Think of a small group gathered around a table, experimenting with beautiful colors, learning something new, chatting, laughing, snacking, sipping wine or sparkling water, and experiencing the moment when a dyed piece is finally unfolded and revealed.

The vibe is creative, relaxed, colorful, curious, welcoming, a little unexpected, and very tactile. You don’t need to consider yourself an artist or have any previous experience. The point isn’t perfection or making something that looks exactly like the example. It’s learning a process, playing with possibility, and leaving with something beautiful and completely your own.
