Dorothy’s Hope Foundation (DHF) is a Ghanaian nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by breast cancer survivor Dorothy Amuah, born out of a personal journey transformed into a mission of hope, advocacy and action. The Foundation is committed to advancing breast cancer awareness, early detection, patient support, women’s health and stronger cancer-care systems in Ghana and across Africa.

Over the years, DHF has implemented awareness and screening initiatives, including its flagship Eye for Cancer project, launched in Accra in 2019 to take cancer education and screening closer to communities. The Foundation has also supported cancer-care infrastructure, including renovation work at the surgical and cancer wards at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, while advocating for improved access to quality cancer services.

Its programmes and fundraising initiatives have included breast cancer walkathons, community screening activities, Christmas support drives, the Pink Soirée, Brushes of Strength, partnerships with women-focused initiatives, and the Serving Up Hope Tennis Tournament in 2025.

Today, DHF is expanding its work beyond awareness to research, policy advocacy, strategic partnerships and resource mobilization, with a growing focus on strengthening cancer care across Ghana and connecting Africa with the global diaspora.

In 2026, the Foundation is taking this mission to the international stage through the Health is Wealth Global Women’s Health Leadership and Impact Forum and the Brushes of Strength Fundraising Gala in New York—creating platforms for leaders, healthcare professionals, philanthropists, policymakers and the diaspora to turn awareness into meaningful commitments for women’s health.

At its heart, Dorothy’s Hope Foundation exists to ensure that breast cancer is not a sentence of silence or hopelessness, but a call to early action, access, dignity, support and hope.
