MAKEPHILIA in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn
Makephilia is operated by Olivia Barr (she/her) out of her apartment in Prospect Heights. She has taught soldering at NYC Resistor for the past 5 years. Because of demand for the class she is opening up her livingroom to teach workshops. Olivia is an object maker who is known for NOT-A-CAMERA, a wearable camera that looks like a drawing of a camera etched in wood or acrylic and was sold at the Whitney museum. She learned how to solder by making a ton of cameras. Her work also includes an interactive costume collaboration with the Brooklyn Ballet that earned her and the NYC Resistor team a Bessie award nomination.
Please note that Makephilia Workshops are held on the 4th floor on a walk up apartment building with no elevator.
