Jacqueline Strano

Jacqueline Strano is a New York–based embroidery artist, fashion historian, and founder of Ricamo Strano. She holds a B.S. in Fashion Merchandise Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology and an M.A. in Visual Culture with a specialization in Costume and Textile History from New York University. She has taught Fashion History, Art History, and Cinema History at Parsons School of Design and has spent over 20 years researching the history of dress, textiles, and film.

In her artwork, Jacqueline combines vintage photography with hand embroidery to create one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces inspired by fashion history, classic cinema, and the stories of women throughout history. Her workshops are designed to be welcoming to complete beginners while offering plenty of inspiration for experienced stitchers. Participants leave with new embroidery skills, a finished piece, and a deeper appreciation for the creative possibilities of stitching on fabric.
