St Francis Lutheran Church SF
St. Francis Lutheran Church has served the San Francisco community since 1905, when it was founded by Danish and Finnish immigrants. Rooted in a long history of care for our neighbors — including relief efforts after the 1906 earthquake — we continue that spirit of welcome today as a Reconciling in Christ congregation in the heart of the Duboce Triangle/Castro neighborhood.
In 1990, St. Francis made history as one of the first Lutheran churches to ordain openly queer pastors, and that legacy of radical inclusion shapes everything we do. We host community events throughout the year — from potlucks and watch parties to movie nights, craft hours, and more — all designed to bring neighbors together, build genuine connection, and celebrate our community in all its diversity.
We also host plenty of non-church-related events too — stay tuned for what's coming up!
Whatever your background or beliefs, you're welcome here.
