Taimy Alvarez
Taimy Alvarez is an award-winning photojournalist, documentary filmmaker, editor, and multimedia storyteller with more than 30 years of experience creating visual stories for major media organizations, including The Washington Post, USA Today, The Associated Press, INSIDER, and the South Florida Sun Sentinel. She was part of the Sun Sentinel team awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service and received a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award in 2017 for documentary work.
As a filmmaker, Taimy has directed, shot, and edited documentary projects exploring culture, identity, and the arts, and currently serves as Director of Photography and Editor for the travel series WaterVoyagers. She is also an educator who has taught photojournalism and visual storytelling at the university level and regularly leads workshops for artists, students, and community organizations.
Through her work, Taimy helps artists and creatives use photography and film as powerful tools to document their practice, share their stories, and connect with audiences through authentic visual storytelling.
