Founded in 2005, The Book Tavern opened in Downtown Augusta on 8th Street, and less than a year later moved to Broad Street. Eight years of growth saw us bursting at the seams and we were fortunate enough to find space across from our friends, The New Moon Cafe, in the JB Whites Building. In 2022, it happened again, and we moved down the block to our current location next to Nacho Mama's.

The Book Tavern is a vibrant and welcoming independent bookstore in Downtown Augusta, GA. With new, used and rare books, every reader will find a book that speaks to them in our extensive inventory. Through book clubs, local drives, literary events, and time spent chatting it up in the store, The Book Tavern strives to foster a space where reading and community meet.

While we're still not quite a Tavern, we do carry zero-proof beverages and other non-alcoholic delights which you can purchase cold at the counter.
