In the year of 1888, in a wood frame building in a rural farming community, New Mount Olive Baptist Church began its pilgrimage with a very small membership. As time passed, more and more people moved near, working and living on large and small farms in the area.

Members of the congregation rode to church on horseback and in buggies. Many walked from miles along with their families to hear the wonderful Word of the Lord: The Gospel of Jesus Christ. They were highly motivated and very interested in helping their families obtain spiritual guidance needed to gain eternal salvation.

On Wednesday, April 29, 1998, the old New Mount Olive Baptist Church and fellowship hall burned to the ground. Nothing was saved. In June 1998, it was decided by the congregation under the guidance of Pastor Rev. Jimmie Wright, to start preparations to rebuild the church building and fellowship hall.

In 1999, a new building was built with the help of God and God’s people. We are presently in this beautiful building. We desire to bring about a change in this world of sin, corruption, and complacency, by living the life that we preach and teach about, and in doing so, becoming soul winners of Christ. We are an Imperfect church striving more and more to present ourselves glorious without spot or wrinkle. We are marching and have been marching for 132 years, with our banners raised and our eyes on the Father up above.

The church marched steadily under the leadership of Rev. Jim Rowland, Sara Brooks, Andrew Lee, Rev. Tobie Davidson, Henry Dew, Lim King, Rev. H. J. Cox, Rev. F. J. Thompson, Rev. Bennett Cortez, Rev. Jimmie Wright and presently Rev. Christopher Dwayne Ellis Sr. B. B. S.
