ATOMIC THEATRE began as a Miami-based electronica/dark ambient/avant-garde jazz ensemble inspired by the change operations of John Cage, early UK alternative music (Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Cure, New Order & the Psychedelic Furs), John Cale, Lou Reed, Nico, Sun Ra, GRAY, The Balanescu Quartet, Milford Graves, Ornette Coleman, Brian Eno, The Kronos Quartet, Isao Tomita, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Don Cherry, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Laurie Anderson, Cabaret Voltaire, Mark Hollis (Talk Talk), Dead Can Dance, 80s Miami Freestyle, DADA, the writings of Jack Kerouac, Hermann Hesse, Yann Martel, Edgar Allan Poe, Flannery O’Connor, Miguel Unamuno, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and American Transcendentalism.
