Ashley Witzgall - Artist from the Black Lagoon

Ashley Witzgall is a Jersey Shore–based multidisciplinary artist and educator creating emotionally driven, abstract portraiture across watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and digital design. Her work explores movement, intuition, and human expression through layered, process-led mark making, inviting viewers (and students) to let go of perfection and create without rules.

With a background in performing arts management, events, and arts leadership, her approach to teaching is rooted in storytelling, experimentation, and accessibility. She has developed inclusive, original art programming for students of all ages and abilities, from young children to adults, including individuals with special needs, and has held leadership roles as an Assistant Director of a private art school and Camp Director for Girl Scouts.

Ashley’s work has been exhibited across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and in 2025 she was nominated for the Phenomenal Women Under 40 Award by Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore for her impact in education and community engagement.

Whether in the studio or the classroom, her focus is the same: creating space for curiosity, confidence, and authentic expression: making art feel approachable, meaningful, and a little bit fearless.
