The Rock to Cure Parkinson’s Foundation was founded by event producer Sebastiaan Todd Hoyt after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in July 2021. His inspiration came from his neurologist, who encouraged him to pursue advocacy work as a form of therapeutic engagement—emphasizing that taking action against the condition can be both empowering and healing.

On May 4, 2024, Hoyt experienced a pivotal moment of clarity during meditation. He realized that listening to rock and metal music, as well as attending live concerts, had served as powerful forms of emotional and psychological therapy for him and countless others. Drawing from over 25 years of experience working with Live Nation through his internationally recognized event, the Endless Night Vampire Ball, he chose to channel his event production expertise into advocacy and fundraising efforts for Parkinson’s disease.

The Rock to Cure Parkinson’s Foundation was officially incorporated and applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in February 2026. The organization was further inspired by the tragic passing of Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath in June 2025, whose public battle with Parkinson’s brought increased awareness to the disease. Shortly thereafter, a dedicated board of directors was formed, comprised of individuals who have been directly or indirectly affected by Parkinson’s.

The Foundation’s primary mission is to produce annual music festivals and concerts around the world to raise awareness and generate funds for Parkinson’s research, with principal support directed toward The Michael J. Foundation.

The battle cry of the RTCP movement is to encourage rock artists, fans, and music lovers everywhere to participate in social media advocacy by creating short videos declaring, “I Rock to Cure Parkinson’s,” serving as a rallying cry for awareness and community involvement.
