“The Humor Section” Stand-Up Comedy Club was founded in 2013 by renowned Irish comedian Des Bishop and Chinese bilingual stand-up comedian Tony Chou at the legendary foreign-language book café, The Bookworm, in Beijing. Now it extends its operation to the heart of global comedy, New York city.
As one of the earliest stand-up comedy clubs in China, The Humor Section not only hosted the Beijing stops for many international comedians on their world tours. Comedians include Ronny Chieng, Sheng Wang, Joe Wong, Da Shan（Mark Rowswell）,Tom Rhodes, Paul Ogata, Ruben Paul, Quin Dahle and more. The Humor Section has also actively promoted Mandarin-language stand-up from its very beginning and it became a cradle for China’s first generation of professional stand-up comedians—many of whom have gone on to become comedy stars.
From the early days when comedians had to scour the streets for an audience, to today when audiences scour the streets for stand-up shows, The Humor Section has stood as a living chronicle of the development of Chinese stand-up comedy.
Comedian Com had his debut performance here. Zhou Qimo started out as an opener at The Humor Section and gradually rose to headline. Shi Laoban (Boss Shi) began as a performer here and later went on to create his own comedy label. Rock once got spontaneously “kissed” during a crowd interaction. Other well-known comedians like Yang Li, Yang Meng'en, Liu Yang (known as Jiaozhu), Hao Yu, Wufan, Mao Dong (Secretary Mao), Cheng Lu, Siwen, Fu Hang, and Xiaolu have all performed here.
Simply put, most stand-up comedians you’ve heard of considered it an honor to perform at The Humor Section.
“幽默小区”脱口秀俱乐部，2013年由爱尔兰著名喜剧演员Des Bishop（毕瀚生）和中国的双语脱口秀演员Tony Chou（周托尼）在北京传奇外文书吧“老书虫”共同创办。现在，它将业务扩展到了全球喜剧的中心—美国纽约。
作为中国最早的脱口秀俱乐部之一，幽默小区不仅承接很多欧美脱口秀演员国际英语巡演的北京站，包括Ronny Chieng, Sheng Wang, Joe Wong, Da Shan（Mark Rowswell）,Tom Rhodes, Paul Ogata, Ruben Paul, Quin Dahle等。幽默小区还致力于推广中文脱口秀，孵化出中国第一代专业脱口秀演员，他们有些已成为脱口秀明星。从“脱口秀满大街找观众”的年代，到“观众满大街找脱口秀”的当下，幽默小区犹如一部中国脱口秀发展的活历史：卡姆在这里首次登台，周奇墨从幽默小区的开场演员，一步步强大到压轴；石老板从幽默小区做演员，到后来创建新厂牌当老板；Rock在互动中突然被“索吻”；还有杨笠、杨蒙恩、刘旸教主、郝雨、悟饭、毛冬毛书记、程璐、思文、付航、小鹿……这么说吧，您听说过的脱口秀演员，大都曾以能上幽默小区演出为荣。
