Philadelphia Student Press Association
The Philadelphia Student Press Association (PSPA) is a citywide coalition of student-run newspapers at colleges and universities across Philadelphia. We exist to amplify student voices, strengthen campus journalism, and connect student reporters to the civic and cultural life of the city. By uniting independent publications under one network, PSPA provides resources, mentorship, and collaborative opportunities that empower the next generation of journalists to tell impactful stories—on campus, in Philadelphia, and beyond.
The Philadelphia Student Press Association unites student-run newspapers across the city’s colleges and universities to strengthen campus journalism and elevate student voices. Through shared resources and collaborative opportunities, PSPA works to broaden the reach of each publication—encouraging coverage that extends beyond campus borders and into the heart of Philadelphia. We also foster connections between student journalists and local media professionals, creating pathways for mentorship, partnership, and meaningful engagement with the city’s broader journalistic landscape.
PSPA’s vision is built on sustainability, equity, and access. Within five years, every member school will have the tools, support, and collaborative reach to cover major Philadelphia news and events—from City Hall and local elections to cultural milestones and world-class concerts.
Our work will be sustained by alumni support, local partnerships, and institutional collaborations that directly fund student journalism. These resources will expand paid opportunities, provide reporting grants, and equip newsrooms with shared tools. PSPA also envisions hosting flagship events that bring together student reporters, professors, and professional journalists to spark dialogue, build networks, and prepare the next generation of media leaders.
