The Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality (CSGS) was founded in 1999 at New York University. We were the first and are still one of the few centers in the U.S. with a named emphasis on both gender and sexuality. CSGS has been a hub for feminist and queer studies scholars, artists, and activists in the New York City region and beyond for over 25 years. CSGS facilitates a broad interdisciplinary investigation of gender and sexuality as keys to understanding human experience through seminars, panel discussions, film screenings, exhibits and conferences throughout the academic year.

These events are all open to the public and provide a vital and lively meeting-place where scholars, students, artists, and activists can discuss issues involving gender and sexuality, and their intersections with other social phenomena such as race, religion, nation, class, ability/disability, and ethnicity.
