The Story Behind Slack’s Car Bike & Truck Show

Every show has a story, and ours starts with the man named Donald Green, though, most folks know him simply as “Slack”.

For years, Slack has been a classic car enthusiast, hitting the roads of Virginia with his bright orange ’72 Chevy Chevelle, his sleek black ’68 Chevy Camaro (that one doesn’t come out as much, but when it does, it turns heads), or his ‘63 Chevy Impala. As his family grew, so did his vision: to create a car show that wasn’t just about cars, but about community.

In 2015, that vision came to life right on family land. Slack wanted a place where car enthusiasts could gather, families could feel at home, and kids could have just as much fun as the grown-ups. That meant bouncy houses, face painting, vendors to shop from, and good food at good prices all wrapped in an atmosphere of safety, positivity, and hometown pride.

Since then, Slack’s Car Bike & Truck Show has been more than just trophies, prizes, and bragging rights (though you’ll find those too). It’s become a tradition, a space where the rumble of engines meets the laughter of children and the warmth of community.

Spectators are always FREE, and so are the kid-friendly amenities and the shopping experience with our vendors. The only cost is what you might grab to eat or, if you’re feeling competitive, your entry into the show for a shot at trophies, awards, and ultimate bragging rights.
