About Us

Founded in November 2023, the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) is a national initiative focused on upskilling and nurturing top talent in integrated circuit (IC) design, advanced packaging, and semiconductor technologies. ASEM addresses critical workforce gaps through targeted training programs designed in collaboration with universities, global semiconductor firms, and government agencies.

ASEM is headquartered at the IC Design Park in Puchong, Selangor — Southeast Asia’s largest semiconductor innovation hub — and plays a key role in Malaysia’s journey toward becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse.

Our Flagship Programs

National Semiconductor Excellence Program (NSEP)

A 1-month intensive program that builds strong foundations in IC design. Participants learn Verilog HDL, digital simulation (VCS), logic synthesis, DFT, low-power design, and place-and-route using Synopsys tools, culminating in capstone projects and mock interviews.

Global Semiconductor Excellence Program (GSEP)

A 2-month advanced IC design program held in Shenzhen, China. Participants gain international exposure through hands-on training in digital and analog design, processor development, SoC design, and physical verification. Each participant completes a project and final assessment.

Key Events

Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day (MSRD)

Attracted over 3,000 attendees with 2,000+ interview requests. The event connected students and graduates with top semiconductor employers, showcasing pathways into high-demand IC design roles.

Explore Semiconductor Series (ESS): Synopsys IC Design Training (Nov 2024)

Hosted at the IC Design park with 300+ registrants and 60 completions. The training engaged more than 40 universities and featured a 4:1 male-to-female participation ratio.

ASEM Campus Connect (ACC)

ASEM’s university roadshow initiative, designed to raise awareness about semiconductor career pathways and promote program opportunities such as NSEP and GSEP.

Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Upskilling Program in Taiwan

Trained 30 Malaysian lecturers in large language models (LLMs) over 15 days, with 43% female participation and strong Bumiputera representation, reinforcing inclusivity in advanced tech education.

Career Awareness Webinars

Engaged nearly 200 students online with industry engineers from Intel, Infineon, SkyeChip, and Infinecs to share career insights in IC engineering.

ARM Training Partnership

ASEM is Malaysia’s exclusive training center for ARM-based IC design and embedded systems, helping participants gain hands-on skills aligned with global industry standards.
