Ayka Williams
I am an artist and founder with a passion for exploring the intersection of creativity, mindfulness, and community. With an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), my artistic foundation is rooted in formal training while my approach embraces accessibility and personal expression.
My artistic practice has been significantly influenced by workshops with Sheila Darcy of SketchPoetic, where I deepened my understanding of how creative expression can serve as a pathway to self-discovery and emotional clarity. I believe firmly that everyone is inherently creative, and I'm particularly drawn to the meditative qualities of pen and ink work as a tool for introspection.
Having lived in many places throughout my life, I've absorbed diverse cultural perspectives that continually inform and enrich my creative approach. These varied environments have taught me to appreciate the universal language of art and its power to transcend boundaries.
For the past 6 years, I've been building a community platform as a founder, an experience that has informed my perspective on how creative practices can foster connection in our increasingly digital world. This entrepreneurial journey has complemented my artistic background, allowing me to bring both creative vision and practical leadership to my work.
Whether facilitating art therapy sessions or developing community spaces, my focus remains consistent: creating environments where people can slow down, connect with themselves and others, and find meaning through creative exploration.
