Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days allows everyone to see inside familiar but often little-known buildings. This year, we are looking a little closer at these buildings by exploring them through artist-guided sketch walks in central Newcastle.

Creative Central NCL is a place for independent artists, creative professionals and cultural organisations to thrive in central Newcastle. We want to see a city centre that is brought to life by artists and creatives, where their skills, practice and experience is a cornerstone of what makes the city attractive and unique. To do that, Creative Central NCL have received funding from the North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) to support independent artists, creative professionals and cultural organisations in a whole range of ways from 2022 – 2027.At the moment, this includes:Grants for things like workspaces, skills development, training, pilot schemes.Events and networking to join the dots and bring ideas or people together.Commissioning artists and creatives for specific projects in the Creative Central NCL geographic area.Over time, there will be more and more things the creative community needs and Creative Central NCL will adapt to meet this need. The geography of Creative Central NCL is anchored around Clayton Street as a central spine and spreads outwards encompassing the conservation area from Grainger Market to the Centre for Life, including The Common Room and the Discovery Museum.
