Accessible nature activities in KentWhat is Wild with Wheels?Our new project provides free, safe and accessible routes for guided, interactive nature walks for people with disabilities and impairments.Who can join our free walks?We welcome adults and children who are wheelchair and mobility scooter users. Our nature walks are also suitable for people withmobility limitationschronic illnesses & hidden disabilitieshearing/sight impairmentsneurodiverse / learning disabilitiesmental health challengesemotional and sensory needsolder peoplelone new parentsnon verbal or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Language) studentsThese guided walks offer engagement, inspiration, and greater awareness of the local countryside. Such experiences are too often inaccessible to the disabled community.People taking part benefit from positive effects on physical, emotional, and mental health well-being. The walks also help rekindle and create new social connections - vital after long periods of isolation and not least because of Covid 19 pandemic lockdowns .Our founder and mobility scooter user, Gini Mitchell, carefully chose our locations for natural, historical and cultural interest.They are close to geology and local wildlife - much of it unique to the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty . You'll also be close to local produce and amenities.Most walks take place somewhere along the wonderful Kent Heritage Coastline - voted the 4th best place to travel in the world in 2022 by the famous Lonely Planet guides.
