Improved Feature Alert: RSVP option

For those of you event holders who prefer to collect and track RSVP responses for your event, you’ll be happy to hear that we’ve improved the RSVP box on the event page!

Based on customer feedback, we moved the RSVP option to right above the ticket order form to increase visibility and help you track more RSVP responses.  When an invitee selects “Yes”, they can order a ticket and when the “No” or “Undecided” option is selected, the invitee can leave a message for you in lieu of purchasing tickets.

We think it flows better and makes more sense.  We hope you agree!

Keep talkin’ to us, cause we’re listening.

Welcome to the 2nd installment of a new series of articles I kicked-off last month on the subject of how to promote your events online.  Part One was all about Twitter.  Last month I laid-out what I hope were some easy to follow and execute techniques for using Twitter to market your event.  Check it out now, if you missed it the first time!

As a general disclaimer, I should say that the methods and ideas I’ll be writing about in this series are not my own.  I don’t organize events.  What I know about promoting events online is … Continue Reading

apps for democracy

The District of Columbia maintains vast quantities of data on its operations, including government contracts, crime statistics and economic development.  In a bid to make this data more readily available to the public, the DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer is sponsoring a contest, called Apps for Democracy, in which technology developers and the public are invited to create software applications that improve public access to DC government data.  The contest will culminate with an awards ceremony for the winning applications on November 13th.  Contestants can register and submit their apps at Apps for Democracy.

biztechday

There’s something to be said for jumping when everybody else is ducking.  Assuming that the sky is not actually falling (which I have it on good authority it is not), times of economic downturn can be a great time to start a new business.  And that’s exactly the spirit of BizTechDay, a one-day conference in San Francisco this Saturday that promises to empower small business owners and entrepreneurs with the secrets of the Internet.  An impressive assortment of notable achievers from various walks of online business has been amassed to answer such timely questions as: How to Collect Money Online Using PayPal, Google Checkout & Amazon Payment;  How to … Continue Reading

Street food is a big part of New York City food culture.   The Vendy Awards (now in their fourth year) recognize excellence in the field of mobile food preparation and vending.  The event features all you can eat food from an assortment of this year’s finalists and culminates with the announcement of the year’s best street food vendor.  Epicurious called it “One of the most bizarre and exuberant food events this city has ever seen.”  Proceeds benefit The Street Vendor Project, a New York City-based non-profit advocacy for street vendors.  The Vendy Awards are on Saturday, October 18th.  … Continue Reading
