Organized by

Tyronda "Ty" Whitaker is Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman at Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments. She has over 10 years experience in the long term care industry and has spent the past 4 years in the capacity of Ombudsman. She is knowledgeable of resident’s rights and state regulations governing long term care.  Having served as the liaison between the resident/family and facility or the resident and his or her family, Tyronda is experienced and proficient in advocating for the resident and making sure his or her voice is heard.  Tyronda has also held Admissions Coordinator, Social Worker and Resident Services Liaison positions in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Tyronda is a graduate of Southeast Halifax High School and holds a B.S. in Social Sciences from the University of Maryland. She resides in Tarboro, NC with her four sons.
