Instructor - Jonathan Polep-Saffer

Jonathan loves cinema and grew up watching thousands of hours of movies. In 2019, he learned how to be a videographer, working with lighting, audio, and editing software. He started photography in 2021 and does both professionally as a freelancer. Using visuals to tell a story and teaching others to develop their skills in visual story telling are his passions.


Class Description

Come learn how to shoot better videos with the tools you have. Whether it's a smartphone, DSLR, or Gopro, the fundamentals of video making are the same. You'll learn about planning your shots, what settings matter the most, and what add-ons you might need to get the most out of your tools.

Class Goals

  • The students will gain the knowledge of basic camera settings such as ISO, shutter speed, and frame per second.
  • They'll also learn about ND filters and when to use them.
  • Finally, they'll learn the basics of storyboarding and making a shot list to ensure that they capture what they want.

Prerequisites

Students must be 12 years old or older. Any student under 18 years of age must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult.

What is your ticket cancellation policy?

Students may withdraw from a class up to 7 days prior to the start of the class via Eventbrite’s refund feature. In extenuating circumstances, students may contact education@artisansasylum.com to request an exception.

Can I transfer my ticket to another session or class?

To request a class or ticket transfer, either use the “contact the organizer” feature offered by Eventbrite or email Education@artisansasylum.com with your name, ticket information, and transfer request. Transfer requests are approved on a case-by-case basis.

Why might this class be canceled?

Artisans Asylum reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes in the event the minimum number of students for the class is not reached, an emergency, such as illness, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. Communication for canceled and rescheduled classes is sent via email.

My class was canceled, what now?

If another class is available at a later date, or if the class has been rescheduled, your class fee will automatically apply to the next class session unless the session is already full or you specifically request a refund. No refunds are given for changes to location or Instructor.

Can my kid attend this class on their own?

All students under 18 must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of an adult.

Will you take my photo during this class?

We occasionally capture photos of students during our classes to use in promotional materials, online, and on social media platforms. By enrolling in a class, you are giving us permission to do so.
