We are proud to introduce The Write Stuff, a new series at Barnes & Noble Philadelphia created for aspiring authors looking to learn more about navigating the route from writing to publication. The Write Stuff provides advice for writers on a wide range of topics including general writing tips, writing for various genres, finding an agent and getting your work published.

In this installment of The Write Stuff, director of UPenn Press Mary Francis and UPenn authors Paul Kahan and Peter Conn will speak about how their books were aquired and published as well as the philosophy and background of the press. The event will conclude with time for questions from the audience.

Peter Conn retired from the University of Pennsylvania as Vartan Gregorian Professor of English and Professor of Education and was a member of the graduate groups in the history of art and American civilization. His previous publications include The Divided Mind: Ideology and Imagination in America, 1898–1917, and Literature in America. Pearl S. Buck: A Cultural Biography (Cambridge) was chosen as a “New York Times Notable Book.” The American 1930s: A Literary History was published by Cambridge in 2009
