The Know/Go Model: Translating What Kids with ADHD Know Into Action
Date and time
When our child is not following through, we assume the deficit is in the knowledge. Learn how to get them to "go" based on what they "know".
About this event
Most kids with ADHD know what needs to be done. Brushing Teeth. Homework. Not fighting with their sibling.
So why is it so hard to get them to do it consistently? Asked another way: If they have the “KNOW,” why won’t they “GO?”
If we assume that our kids are not following through because of a deficit in their knowledge, we may be missing something key. Often, what these kids lack is an operational ability to take action on what they “know,” in order to “go”.
In our September “Learning from a Distance” webinar, Dr. Karin Varblow, ADHD expert and behavioral pediatrician, will present:
“The Know/Go Model: Translating What Kids with ADHD Know into Action”
In this practical and unique talk, Dr. Varblow will share:
- How to better understand the brain of a child with ADHD
- How to be solutions-oriented in our approach to help our children “go the way they know"
- Positive language we can use to limit the negative messaging we may inadvertently be sending our kids
If you find yourself often asking your kids “What were you thinking?”, “Why did you do that?”, or “Why isn’t this done yet?”, this webinar will help you build some new strategies to guide more helpful dialogue with your child.
*After registering, you will receive the webinar Link ~ 3 days prior to the event.
