About the Talk:
Behind the Music: A Spy’s Secret Symphony
International violinist Ariella Zeitlin shares the astonishing true story she uncovered about her grandfather—a British army spy in Mandatory Palestine who posed (and impressed!) as a violinist while secretly passing intelligence to the Jewish underground army. With personal reflections, historical intrigue, and musical interludes, Ariella takes us on a journey through family, identity, and the power of hidden truths. After the talk, she will treat us to a mini concert from her current international tour—a captivating and stunning performance that fuses classical mastery with modern flair.
About the Speaker:
Ariella Zeitlin is a world-renowned violinist known for blending virtuosic playing with humor, loop pedal mastery, and a soulful voice. She began her solo career at age 8 after being accepted to the prestigious Peabody School of Music in Baltimore. After moving to Israel at 17, she studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, winning international competitions and scholarships. Ariella has performed across the globe, including concerts in Japan, London, and Toronto, and received the Israel Ministry of Culture Award for her debut album Revelation. Today, she continues to tour internationally, using music to educate, entertain, and inspire.
