Storytime with Author Dana Marie Miroballi: Celebrating Black Inventors
Join us on Saturday, May 18th, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Da Book Joint for a special storytime event featuring Chicago-based author Dana Marie Miroballi and her inspiring new picture book, Inventions to Count On: A Celebration of Black Inventors.
This beautifully illustrated counting book introduces young readers to the remarkable contributions of Black inventors, from everyday items like the ice cream scooper to life-changing innovations such as the traffic light. Through rhyming text and vibrant illustrations, children will learn about pioneers like Alice H. Parker, Garrett Morgan, Sarah Boone, and James West, whose inventions have shaped our daily lives .
Dana Marie Miroballi, a speech-language pathologist and former teacher, brings her passion for cultural diversity and education to this engaging storytime. Attendees will enjoy a read-aloud session, interactive discussions, and activities that celebrate creativity and innovation.
