Video Consortium Latin America, in collaboration with BIPOC EURODOC and BIPOC Kollektiv Konstanz, invites you to a special gathering during DOK.fest: a screening of short documentaries created as part of the Solutions Storytelling Project LATAM.
This program brings together stories of resilience, community-driven change, and social justice across Latin America, told by emerging filmmakers close to the realities they portray. Learn more about the projects here.
For this pop-up event, we will present three selected short films that deeply resonate with BIPOC collective struggles and movements across the Global South:
Light Of The Free (Mexico) – Dir. Viviana Zúñiga
A personal journey following a mother and activist determined to transform her community through collective action against gender violence.
Planting Resistance (Peru) - Dir. Juan Llacsa
In the Peruvian jungles, Indigenous women face violence from extractivism, racism, and sexism. Despite these challenges, they lead efforts to protect sacred spaces and safeguard water sources for geographic sovereignty.
Suraras of the Amazon (Brazil) – Dir. Magabí Matos
An Indigenous Brazilian woman and her community fight to defend the Amazon rainforest from exploitative tourism and environmental degradation.
The screening will be followed by an open conversation about creative processes, the role of community narratives, and the importance of strengthening BIPOC networks in documentary filmmaking.
The event will be moderated by Viviana Zúñiga, filmmaker, producer, and Video Consortium ambassador.
