*The Agent will contact you after registration to set up a time/date for site-visit*
One of the first steps in agriculture and natural resources management is plant/soil sampling, bio-identification, and consultation. UF/IFAS Extension can help.
The Agent will help you decide what, how, and where to sample. He will also provide identification of plants, insects, diseases, etc. free of charge.
Your participation and active learning is encouraged! You will be invited to learn patterns in identification of common invasive plants, insects, and other natural environmental indicators. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to try out tools used by the Agent and learn how to mix/prepare soil and plant samples under guidance. Then, the Agent will help you fill out the paperwork and package the sample.
You will receive a report containing your soil results. The manager/owner must be present and it is recommended they participate in sampling and take a written post test upon completion to reinforce learning. Pre-tests are taken upon purchase of this ticket.
You are responsible for paying for samples sent to University of Florida Soil Testing Laboratory via United States Postal Service or to another laboratory of your choice. Shipping is normally $5-15
The Agent will contact you by email/telephone to go over your results if needed. You will also be asked to participate in surveys related to your practices.
On April 28th, from 2pm to 3pm we will have a class where we break down the different types of tests offered by the soils lab. That class will be online via Zoom.
