- Event lasts 5 hours
This meeting will provide a basic introduction to reproducible workflows and what it means in practice to conduct research that can be reproduced and replicated in the future. Following the introductory talk, we will suggest a number of different training and learning resources which can be used in different types of research to improve reproducibility. Participants will be supported in making a plan for what steps they can take to improve the reproducibility of their own research work.
Target audience: Early-career researchers (ECRs), including PhD students and postdocs, research assistants, lab managers, and any other researcher who is interested in learning about reproducible workflows
Agenda:
13:00 - Registration, grab a coffee and find a seat
13:15 - Welcome & information about DKRN
13:20 - Panel debate: Reproducibility in practice
Panelists share their insights and knowledge about supporting reproducibility in their research projects, the moderator helps guide the discussion, and the audience is invited to ask questions at the end.

Prof. Melanie Ganz, Dept. of Computer Science, UCPH, will share her perspective on the status, challenges, and best practices in her area of the natural sciences/medicine, with very large datasets.Assoc. Prof. Arne Henningsen, Dept. of Food and Resource Economics, UCPH, will present the perspective of quantitative social science research with small to medium-sized datasets
14:10 - Break
14:20 - Workshop with Mareike Buss and Kristoffer Gulmark Poulsen (Copenhagen Business School)
Part 1: Reproducibility in data availability and data publishing
- Motivating the session and where to find more learning materials
- Working with reproducibility from the start - workflows and considerations
14:50 - Break
15:00 - Workshop Part 2: Show and tell - a Template for Replication Packages
- Live presentation of a template for replication packages, including setting up a git repository, version tools, integration of tools, virtual environments in a workflow, documentation and what to consider when working with sensitive data.
15:55 - Break
16:00 - Group discussion, facilitated by Karina Maria Gregersen
As wrapping up of the workshop, participants are encouraged to discuss the potentials and challenges they see in working with reproducibility throughout their projects, and are encouraged to share the skills and training they consider vital to do this. How can the DKRN contribute to advancing reproducibility agendas and skills at our organisations?
16:30 - Social gathering and networking
Finding the room:
The meeting room is von Langen and is located on the mezzanine level of “Fælleshuset”, a building behind the main old building “Forhuset”, which is the building one sees from the street. One should access the meeting room from “Fælleshuset”, not “Forhuset”.
