About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

“Ugh! I have to go to an event and I don’t know anyone! I'm so nervous!!” It's common for people to feel socially awkward at times, whether they are at a big networking event, a cocktail party, or even a job interview. While many adults believe that they should be confident in these situations, they often struggle with social anxiety, which can hold them back from achieving great things. This session will help participants understand that they are not alone in their fears. It will provide them with many tips and techniques to overcome their social uneasiness in order to be more effective communicators.

Specific takeaways include:

• Why is the idea of networking so off-putting and how to make it an enjoyable experience (imagine that!)?

• The science behind our social awkwardness and how to overcome it, in a matter of minutes (sometimes even seconds!)

• The art of the handshake and why doing it wrong can sink you, even before you open your mouth

• The art of having a memorable conversation (hint: it’s not talking about work!)

• The art of finding the right groups to join and which ones you should avoid at all cost!

• The art of remembering people’s names

This session will be beneficial for anyone who wants to be more confident in their interpersonal interactions and communication skills. It will be a fun, interactive and safe place to learn and grow!
