About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Only 20 tickets available! Deadline to sign up is Thursday, May 15.

$60 includes hands-on instruction, lei culture & etiquette session, all materials needed, and extensive Q&A.

In Hawaiian, “po’o” means “head,” so a lei po’o is a head lei. You’ll make a beautiful 21-inch Lei Po’o using a beautiful assortment of seasonal flowers and greenery (dependent on availability). You’ll learn the wili style (pronounced "vee-lee" meaning to wind or twist) to make your Lei Po’o.

Your teacher is award-winning San Diego lei maker Margery Ohlson. She’ll share information about how to prepare the materials and prolong the life of your Lei Po’o. She will talk about lei culture and lei etiquette, all while Hawaiian music plays softly in the background.

What to bring:

  • Water bottle (refills provided)
  • Hat
  • Pen
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Aloha spirit

Check-in begins 15 minutes before the event starts. Please give yourself enough time to arrive, park, and get a seat, as the event will begin promptly at the start time.

We’ll be in our open classroom in the shade. This is a rain-or-shine event.

Note: Cancellations are allowed up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Eventbrite ticketing fees will be deducted (around 8%).

Note: Photos are depictions of previous Lei Po’o classes. Materials used in your class depend on availability.
