In the past few months, we have become increasingly concerned about the safety of our community, the wellbeing of our marginalized friends, family, loved ones, coworkers, and neighbors, and the increased threat of illegal deportation and separation. We are excited to partner with NYLAG's Immigrant Protection Unit to present a free community workshop to help educate our community on their constitutional rights and protections.
In this workshop, we will learn about the difference between federal agencies, such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and local police. We will address the different scenarios in which noncitizens may encounter ICE and provide advice on how community members may avail themselves of the protections to which they are entitled under the 4th and 5th Amendments to the United States Constitution. We will also briefly review the deportation process and address any questions attendees may have.
