This program creates a supportive space where aspiring tech professionals can develop their skills on meaningful civic projects that address real community needs.

- A Tech Gathering for Social Good. Flex your skills, network with peers, work on open source projects (dataviz, chatbot, research, design and code)
- Convene with the community. In collaboration with mentors from Data + Women and Superbloom Design, we invite all techies from different backgrounds to ideate on a prototype to impact citywide change via Equitable Mapping.
- Join a coalition of allies. From university students, grassroots teachers, tech workers, to mentors from NY tech orgs, we're forming a collective of mission-aligned groups dedicated to impactful initiatives to make Public Interest Tech accesible to everyone.
What to expect:
- IN-PERSON EVENT. This event can be attended only in NYC. Our feature project, Project Great Dane will host a mini design challenge in the afternoon where attendees will do a mini pitch off in the end.
- LAPTOPS - BYO laptop! Half the day is all about design sprints, code-along, workshops etc.
- LUNCH IS INCLUDED. Food will be provided, make sure to choose your pizza options.
- COMMUNITY-DRIVEN LEARNING. This event is a pitch style showcase of work led by the Civic Tech Fellows and Core Team Femmecubator and community volunteers! (Project Husky and Project Foxhound).
- DESIGN CHALLENGE - We’re opening up a two week design challenge for Project Great Dane. Help us improve the prototype for the Equitable Mapping project.
What is Open Sprints?
Open Sprints is open to the public where they can learn practical skills and get hands on exposure to facilitator-run workshops.
