Building Strong Youth-Centered Programs

Session 1 - Youthworks Methods: Intro to Active Participatory Approach (9:30-11 a.m.) Learn the foundational philosophy of engaging youth holistically. This workshop introduces the 'active-participatory approach,” which is the foundational philosophy for all other Youth Work Methods workshops. In this approach, adults engage young people socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically as active participants in their own learning and development.

Break (11-11:15 a.m.)

Session 2 - Youthworks Methods: Cooperative Learning (11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m.) Implement interactive strategies that encourage collaboration and self-direction. This workshop introduces methods for building supportive, youth-centered relationships and prepares participants to ask effective questions, listen actively to youth, and encourage young people by tapping their intrinsic motivation.

Parking: Park in the lot across from TGI Fridays and enter the building (formerly Target). Proceed past security to the first doors on the right to enter the Carefirst Engagement Center.
