Behind the Scenes of Railroading Virtual Summer Camp

About this event

Children learn new skills, make friends and have fun during a three-day virtual summer camp recommended for ages 9 to12! Led by Museum Educators and Staff. Session theme is “Behind the Scenes of Railroading,” where attendees will:

-Explore historic railroad equipment virtually in special behind-the-scenes tours,

-Learn about the collections and other treasures that we have stored away at the Museum

-Discover methods of restoring historic equipment and the projects in our restoration shop

-Collaborate with other campers to solve challenges and interact in a safe, guided manner

Join the fun! This virtual summer camp session takes place in 3 classroom periods:

Tuesday, August 3rd, 10AM-11AM

Tuesday, August 10, 10AM-11AM

Tuesday, August 17th, 10AM-11AM

All 3 virtual classroom periods are included in the session price. Attendees must have internet access and Zoom in order to attend. Links will be sent each week via e-mail to join. Materials for an arts and crafts project included in price(will be mailed to given attendee address).

Organizer of Behind the Scenes of Railroading Virtual Summer Camp

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, in Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is administered by Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, with the active support of the non-profit Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Over a hundred historically significant locomotives and railroad cars, extensive railroad history exhibits, working restoration shop, cutting edge education center and programs, special events throughout the year, professionally managed library and archives, museum store and more.

Exhibit halls are climate controlled. WIFI access available, numerous mobile device videos showing details of exhibits and railroad history.
