Event description

Description

As part of the 2018 AIAD:COMMONS monthly programming, AIA Detroit will host a four-part screening and interdisciplinary panel discussion series, focused on four installments of the Netflix-produced documentary, "Abstract: The Art of Design".

The second in our four-part series will focus on Interior Design, examining how interior designer Ilse Crawford creates spaces and objects that engage the senses and promote well-being, from high-end hotels to Ikea furniture.

According to her website, studioilse.com, "Ilse Crawford is a designer, academic and creative director with a simple mission to put human needs and desires at the centre of all that she does... This means creating environments where humans feel comfortable; public spaces that make people feel at home and homes that are habitable and make sense for the people who live in them. It means designing furniture and products that support and enhance human behaviour and actions in everyday life. It means restoring the human balance in brands and businesses that have lost their way."

This event is generously sponsored by MarxModa and Herman Miller, and is in partnership with IIDA Michigan. MarxModa has generously agreed to open their stunning, recently-renovated Downtown Detroit headquarters to serve as the venue for both the screening and the following panel discussion. You won't want to miss this opportunity.

We look forward to seeing you on June 26th!
