Join the Racial Justice Collaborative as we spotlight a powerful movement transforming lives across the African continent—The LEDGE Group—and explore how African Americans and members of the African Diaspora can step into this historic moment to build a new future grounded in self-determination, mutual aid, and collective vision.
Our featured guest, Peter Brown, CEO of LEDGE Group, will share how this dynamic initiative, co-founded with Lisa Finklea and Nkozi Ubuntu Ra, is radically reimagining Pan-African collaboration. LEDGE (Land for Environmental Development and Group Economics) is more than a business—it is a blueprint for Black-led global empowerment.
LEDGE Has Built: A Model of Self-Reliance
Over the past decade, LEDGE:
- Dug 5+ life-saving wells in rural Kenya and provided over 20 communities with water through water storage, purification facilities, and water filtration workshops for the Maasai warriors in Tanzania.
- Established solar engineering workshops, maternity wards, and IT training centers
- Created brick manufacturing and construction hubs
- Launched MMA training and youth empowerment programs
- Formed the Grand Rising Coffee Collection in partnership with Ugandan farmers
- Supported safe repatriation for families returning to the continent
- Developed homes, businesses, and resorts—completely debt-free
This is Marcus Garvey’s vision made real.
This is Ubuntu in action.
This is the rebirth of economic sovereignty through grassroots brilliance.
Why Now: A Hospital in Sierra Leone
Today, LEDGE faces a critical opportunity—Gifted a building we converted into a hospital that is the world's first self-sustained medical center. Providing care for a community of 50,000 who never had as much as a pharmacy, clinic, or medical support focused on producing livelihoods, dignity, and long-term sustainability.
An investment in this marketplace is an investment in:
- Women earning a fair wage and gaining Nursing skills and opportunities
- Children receiving clean water and education
- Communities living without debt or foreign exploitation
