Founded in 2006, Rainbow Railroad is the only organization of its kind - providing support to at-risk LGBTQI+ people around the world through emergency relocation, financial assistance, and crisis response. In 2022 alone, we received 10,000 requests for assistance and provided support to 4,457 people, including supporting the evacuations of 325 LGBTQI+ people. With 17 years of experience, we are excited to launch a new program to get LGBTQI+ people to safety in the United States.
Earlier this year, Rainbow Railroad announced its participation in Welcome Corps - a program where ordinary citizens can form groups of 5 or more to help bring LGBTQI+ people to safety in communities of care around the country. Rainbow Railroad is launching this program in the Bay Area in 2023.
We're excited to share more information about our unique mission and work, as well as this program at an in-person support information session taking place on May 16th at 6:30 pm at The San Francisco LGBT Center.
