Presented by the FERL collective, Vessels of Memory examines the ways we encounter the world and how we carry our experiences forward, either as impressions in our mind or as a somato-sensorial experience. This includes reflections on queer memory and shared histories of belonging and non-belonging; self-narrativization in the public construction and consumption of personal histories; grief and the body as a site of stability and frailty; and the power of the inanimate to evoke embodied responses in the viewer. These four artists offer their ownnuanced viewpoint on how experiential memories – external and internal – are understood.
