Free 1-Hour Intro to Photography Workshop

Interested in learning the basics of photography in a supportive, hands-on environment? This beginner-friendly session is designed for those who want to explore the essentials and gain confidence behind the lens. If you’re new to cameras or primarily shoot with a smartphone, this workshop is for you.

In this 1-hour session (from Noon - 1PM before the event), you’ll learn key photography concepts like aperture, ISO, and shutter speed, along with simple composition techniques. Led by an experienced instructor, you’ll get the opportunity to practice with a Canon entry-level camera and walk away with foundational skills to kickstart your photography journey.

Please note: This workshop is tailored specifically for beginners. If you’re already experienced with camera basics, we encourage you to explore other event activities, like advanced gear trials and styled sets.

Space is limited to 30 attendees.

Do I need to bring my own camera?

No, you don’t need to bring your own camera! Canon will have a selection of mirrorless bodies and lenses available for hands-on trials. However, if you have a camera you love—of any brand—feel free to bring it along and shoot with it. All creators are welcome!

How do I reserve Canon gear to try at the event?

You can reserve gear in advance via the link provided in your ticket confirmation email. There will also be limited walk-up availability on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I attend if I’m new to photography?

Absolutely! This event is open to all experience levels. If you’re just starting out, the Intro to Photography Workshop is a great way to build confidence and learn the basics.

How do I sign up for the Intro to Photography Workshop?

When reserving your ticket, select the “Intro to Photography Workshop” ticket option during check-out. Space is limited to 30 attendees, so be sure to secure your spot early!

Will there be any printed takeaways from the event?

Yes! You’ll have the chance to print your photos, including a framed take-home print, and enter to win a professionally framed large print by Frame Lab.

Can I bring a guest?

Of course! We’d love to have your friends join, too. Just keep in mind that every person must have their own ticket, as space is limited. If your guest wants to attend, make sure they secure their spot in advance.

The event takes place at Another Studios in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. There is limited street parking nearby, and public transit is a great option for easy access.
