About this event

  • 6 hours

Please consider a contribution of any amount to help support Greg and his family while they navigate Greg’s terminal prognosis of a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumour.

Greg and his family were blindsided in mid-March when some unusual symptoms sent them to a local ER. After several hours and a CT scan, they discovered a large mass on his brain. Greg and Jennifer were then transported by ambulance to the U of A where they were to spend the next 19 days, most of which were spent in the critical care unit.

Greg’s initial brain surgery had to be aborted when his blood pressure spiked to a dangerously high level. As it turned out, he also had a very rare and completely unrelated adrenal mass that was the cause of the complications. After eight days and many discussions with all the different and brilliant specialists, they operated on and removed the adrenal tumour successfully. Only a day later they performed the brain surgery. The operation was considered a success as well, as the surgeon was able to remove the majority of the brain tumour.

The family returned home at the beginning of April but they would soon find their way back to the ER where they discovered Greg was also suffering from a very painful pulmonary embolism. While recovering from the embolism he bravely completed three weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. The family hopes with all their hearts that he will defy the odds but has been told to expect that this brain tumour will return for his life within 12-14 months.

Throughout this ordeal, Jennifer, who is the primary earner, has been unable to work and expects that in the coming months, she will have to keep work to a minimum so she can dedicate her time to care for her husband.

The family is very much looking forward to being surrounded by their friends and music to celebrate Greg's many contributions to the musical community on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at O2's West Edmonton. Greg is especially excited that his amazing kids Luke and Tess, who are his greatest source of pride and joy, will be performing as Tennyson.

The Pretty’s deepest wishes are to be able to spend as much time together as possible in these final months building precious memories together. Please consider helping this awesome family do that.

Thank you for reading.
