Come join us for a fun-filled day at the Bower-Kin Community Center! Lace up your running shoes and get ready to enjoy the beautiful weather while participating in our first Sun Run sponsored by Sunterra Market. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a leisurely stroll, this event is perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Soak up the sunshine, meet new friends, and make some unforgettable memories at the Sun Run! Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to get active and enjoy the great outdoors while supporting the Bower Kin Hall facility renovation . Be sure to stay for the Bo's Bar and Stage AFTERPARTY with live bands and cold bevies. Kids can play nearby on the fields, playground or bouncers generously supplied by FUNHAUS and Game Zone with the Dome.

Frequently asked questions

Is the course stroller friendly?

The first 500 meters are on grass from the Bower sportsfield before it moves onto asphalt trails . We will trim the grass as short as we can but Chariot type strollers will move easily.

Does it go rain or shine?

Well of course, but we have ordered SUNshine for the SUN Run.

Can we purchase T-shirts?

We do NOT have any available but encourage you to get in the spirit with your fav SUNSHINE HOLIDAY look! Hawaii? Mexico? Caribbean? Sylvan Lake?

Can we change distances?

Absolutely! Because this is a SELF TIMED EVENT you are welcome to switch between events right up to start.

How do we know our finishing time ?

We will have a running clock at the finish line that will be set for the 10:00am -5km start and reset for the 11:00 am -3 km start ... But don't you love your phones and watches; they will tell you your time, splits, pace and even heart rate!!

Will there be a secure bag check?

You bet, thanks to the local Kinettes Club. Look for the Devereaux / Century 21 Maximum cargo trailer.

What is the event raising money for?

The Bower Community Association is raising money for the much needed kitchen renovation. This 40 + year old hall needs lots of upgrading with the kitchen being the first step.The hall is used by ALL of Red Deer for, meetings, weddings, birthdays, celebration of life and so much more.

When does the Bo's Bar and Stage after party start?

Our first live band will kick off just after the DQ Bubble Run (approx 12:15) It will run until 4:00 pm right on the Bower sports fields. Kids are welcome to come in and out of the beer garden area, ALCOHOL IS NOT ALLOWED OUTSIDE THE ROPED OFF AREA.

Will food be available for purchase?

Absolutely! Kids will have a great snack shack area with fun food. There will also be barbeque food- (menu to be determined ). ATM machine on site for your convenience.

Can I receive a Charitable Tax Receipt?

You sure can! All donations over $20 added to your race fees will receive a registered tax receipt. Sorry- your race fees are not included as you will receive sooooooo much for that entry fee. Make sure your email is correct so we can get that issued to you POST EVENT.
