Sourdough Workshop On The Farm
Come join The Cave Baker on Sunday May 25th at Foragers Farms from 12PM to 3PM for a guided hands-on sourdough workshop! Learn the art of sourdough right here on the rolling hills of the farm.
There is something for everyone to learn in this space and we welcome any new sourdough bakers or beginners as this is a Level 1 experience.
You will be guided through the entire process, from creating and maintaining your sourdough starter to shaping and baking the perfect loaf. We will go through any and all of your questions throughout the duration of the workshop!
In this workshop you will:
- Learn to feed your starter and make a leaven
- How to mix the dough and how your dough should look through bulk fermentation
- Learn proper techniques for building structure and proper gluten development
- Learn proper shaping and scoring techniques
- Learn how to bake loaves
- Discuss sourdough tools, and other tips and tricks
What’s Included:
- A full organic sourdough kit (spring water, organic flour, salt - dough ingredients), ready to bake that evening or the next morning
- A jar of bubbly active sourdough starter to take home
- Printed instructions to take home
- A master sourdough recipe + a few extra recipes!
- Optional: Pre-order a banneton proofing basket available for purchase ($20)
What You Need To Bring:
- A large mixing bowl (to mix your dough in)
- 2-3 tea towels
- Apron (optional)
- Pen and notepad to take notes

We welcome anyone at least 12 ages or older due to the nature of the farm (it is a working farm), children/teens need to be accompanied with their parents at all times!
This beginners workshop is 3 hours.
I recommend bringing: an apron and a large bowl to mix your dough in! Optional: another bowl to take your sourdough home in.
