Opening Reception for Duane Nickerson's Solo Exhibition

Duane Nickerson is making his return to Abbozzo Gallery with his most recent body of work titled Closer. Having depicted trees as his primary subject matter in recent years, this body of work differs in the artist's attention to the theme of time encapsulated in the slow growth and decay of trees. This theme is evident in not only his subjects but in his technique, slowly and deliberately layering his medium of oil paint on a canvas surface and pastel marks and watercolour on paper as a modest tribute to the endurance of forests and the forces that continue to shape our environment.
